Our Wish List:

First and foremost, I wouldn’t consider myself a ‘gear head, or ‘gear geek’ or even a ‘consumer’. I pride myself on getting the longest possible life out of my gear and not having to replace it due to neglect.

However, in my researching and trip planning I typically find myself first clicking on the equipment or gear page of previous adventures in hopes of getting an insight into what they used for travel.

I guess the question is why is it important to know what gear others have used or are using? I suppose that we all want our adventure to be successful, and accomplish our goals, and perhaps this is the most important part of the puzzle. Far from it, in my mind; mental toughness, a positive attitude, and ability to laugh are what makes a great adventure successful. I think that at the end of the day, we all just want to have fun and enjoy ourselves, and the equipment we have aids in this, but it is important to understand that gear is not everything. Many passionate people have pulled off amazing feats, with little more than the clothes on their backs and determination.

So as we set forth on this trip, we have put an investment into acquiring some snazzy belongings, but I have to believe that the journey will unfold exactly how it is meant to and if any of it is lost, faulty, or goodness forbid stolen, we will still enjoy and make the most of it all.
